Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run.
At the beginning of each year, we pause to consider the vision, purpose, and practice of our fellowship. As we do, we review some pointed questions that cause us to review & renew what we do, why we do it, and who we do it for.
Questions like…why do we do what we do? No, really…have you ever wondered why we get up early to gather on the first day of every week and set aside time to worship God?
And why do we invest in each other and encourage one another to persevere in following Jesus?
And why do we tell others about the goodness and faithfulness and love of God and encourage them to do the same?
Because we’re supposed to? Because we’re obligated to? Just…because???
There is a reason—and its important. So important, it’s worth remembering year after year after year…
The purpose of the church is to mature believers so that they are equipped for the work of ministry. And the work of ministry is…loving the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind (worship); and to love your neighbor as yourself—to encourage others to love the Lord (discipleship) or to introduce others to the love of the Lord (evangelism).
